Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir reiterated that the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) leaders in Tehran will bolster global peace and security.
"We are confident that the summit will help global peace and security, defend countries' independence and stand against (foreign) interference in their internal affairs," Bashir said upon arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad airport.
"The decisions of the summit will result in international peace and security and safeguarding countries' independence," the Sudanese president underscored.
Bashir arrived in the Iranian capital to participate in the 16th heads-of-state summit of the NAM.
The Sudanese president was welcomed by Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini.
The 16th NAM summit will be held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Thursday and Friday.
NAM is comprised of some 120 member states and 17 observer countries.
NAM is an international organization of states considering themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. NAM is the largest grouping of countries outside of the United Nations.
NAM member states represent nearly two-thirds of the United Nations' members and comprise 55% of the world population, particularly countries considered to be developing or part of the Third World.
